About Miss Smith |

I was born and raised in the state of Washington. My family lived on a farm. I learned the value of working hard and caring for family.
I became a Christian in my early teens during a Christian concert. One of the singers shared Jesus’ words from John 14:6 “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” I realized then that I had been trying to please God by going to church, trying to be “good”, praying, and reading my Bible. The Bible said that I just needed to turn from my sin, believe in Jesus, and receive God's free gift of salvation. Jesus is our Good News: “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16. Jesus died in my place for my sins so that I can have eternal life. Without Christ, I was full of guilt, frustration, and without eternal hope. With Jesus, I have eternal life. I did and still do struggle with wrong attitudes, selfish desires, and wanting my own way. Jesus gives me forgiveness and the strength to live a right life. It has been a joy to have a relationship with God for so many years.
I received a B.A. in elementary education at Central Washington University. My first teaching job was as a third grade teacher in a public school. Then God called me to teach in a Christian school. Last year was my 23rd year of teaching at Riverside Christian Day School. I enjoy my work and feel like I have family there. I taught 15 years as a third grade teacher. It is now my 9th year as computer teacher. I appreciate that I can share the love of Jesus Christ freely at this school with my students.
I bought my first home computer in 1996 so I could email a friend in Japan. I love using computers and teaching my students on computers.
