The mission of our school system is to "Glorify God by pursuing excellence in Christ-centered Academics" to fulfill the following goals:
Lead students and their families to faith in Christ for salvation.
Challenge every believer to obey God's Word for Christian growth.
Empower believers by the Holy Spirit to change the world by using their God-given gifts and talents.
Riverside Christian Day School offers classes for five-year-old kindergarten through 6th grade. We also offer a college preparation program for grades 7 through 12 at our Secondary Campus called Woodcrest Christian Schools. (call 780-2010.) The total enrollment is over 900 students for our entire K-12th program called Woodcrest Christian School System.
Our teachers are carefully selected Christians who are qualified college graduates and certified to teach by the Association of Christian Schools (ACSI) and/or by the State of California. They are trained academically and spiritually to minister to students in their assigned grade levels. Our teachers are prepared to instruct students in wisdom and discipline them in love. Our school system is accredited by ACSI and by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
The teachers follow a sequentially developed curriculum of Christ-centered Academics. We select the best texts available from Christian publishers, such as ABeka Books, Bob Jones, and other textbook suppliers. The goal of our instruction is to help the students to grow in the wisdom of God. To read more about academics at RCDS, please go to our Academics menu.
We call the students to obedience by instruction, warning, reproof, and correction. We believe that students need to be loved freely and guided firmly toward wholesome growth. When students learn to love and obey God they are better able to love and respect people. The goal of our discipline is to help students grow in the character of Jesus Christ while shepherding their hearts. We emphasize the development of attentiveness, obedience, responsibility, and kindness.
Library facilities, computer instruction, choral classes, and field trips are offered to all grade levels. Private piano instructions are available on a sign-up basis. Other optional campus programs include a hot lunch program, summer day camp, individual tutoring, shuttle bus service between campuses, and extended day care from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The class size for the Riverside Campus averages about 28 students and we generally have two classes per grade level. Our enrollment is usually over 400 students for kindergarten through 6th grade and over 550 students for our Woodcrest Campus.
The Rate Schedule is issued March 1st of each year to announce tuition and fees for the next school year. Current tuition rate schedules are available in the school office. Tuition rates for families with more than one child in the school are reduced.
School hours for the Riverside Campus are 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for students in kindergarten through 6th grade. The school year usually begins after Labor Day and ends in mid-June. Our summer camp opens the week after the end of the school term and extends 5 weeks into the summer.
